International Couse in Microbial Ecology

Last week, I attended the 6th annual International Course in Microbial Ecology (ICME). The goal of this course was to bring young scientists from around the world together to learn techniques and protocols from experts in their field. I met some great people and learned protocols that I can share with the rest of the lab, such as exo-enzymatic assays and flow cytometry!

The course took place in Trieste, Italy, a beautiful city on the sea. Some more details about my day to day activities are on the McMahon Lab Twitter account, @mcmahonlab (follow us for the latest lab news and pictures). Below are a few pictures I took during the course. If this sounds like something that could be useful for you, considering going to the 7th ICME! It will be held in Croatia next year – keep an eye on microbeco.org for more details in the future.
