Water: a shrinking resource

Here’s a good read about water usage in Central Asia from Nature:

“Curb Vast Water Usage in Central Asia” by Olli Varis

It brings up some interesting points about how to reduce water use by transitioning away from agriculture towards industries that rely more on people power such as information and technology industries. It also brings about points about enacted policies that do not reduce water use, such as more efficient use of water in agriculture or the construction of an artificial lake in the desert. Believe it or not, that last one is a real project in progress!
